You know what was great? Summer/Fall 2011. We had multiple factions, each with their own commands and ranks, and styles. Best of all, they each had their own beliefs, and constantly jostled, fought, allied, and betrayed each other for dominance of the world. It made the world interesting and fresh.
Having THAT again would be great...and not just that, but an even better version, one structured for interactions such as that. I believe there should be houses, noble houses such as in Game of Thrones, that sort of thing. (House Ender, House Trueblood, House Templar, etc.) Each House would function as it's own family with it's own lands and rule, and commands. Each House would be sworn loyal to the ruling royal House, House Capez or whatever House is in power right now. Now, officially, that House would be royal for all eternity, unless another House decided they had a better claim to the throne...and were willing to shed blood for it. House members would be tied by blood and name, and retainers of the houses would swear blood oaths of loyalty.
This sort of setup, especially if we can make the position of King lucrative and appealing, would cause all sorts of interesting conflicts, and hopefully increase the popularity of the server.
Besides which, it would be unique, I know of no other server where one could play an environment such as this.
What do y'all think?

As much as I think this sounds awesome, I don't think it will happen.

As a massive GOT fan, I must say that this would be quite interesting to see. Unfortunately, this is a RADICAL regime change to the entire server's way of life. This would also put freelancers almost completely out of power. You'd have to rely on people's ability to come together and trust and support each other when forming a house, which is basically impossible. In short, it's a lot like Ned Stark. Great, but won't last long.

I first played when this was on it was AWESOME. I think the biggest part I took in it was when templars declared war on EF.

I have never played game of thrones(how is it, is it like skyrim), but i think that this kind of gamestyle would be awesome, so yes from me! .

maybe it could happen slowly over time rather than all at once. I mean the Blackwinds are an example of a family with power and I'm sure others could rise as well. Any one wanna be a Superbus? =P
But this could be a way to make it feel natural and lore friendly. Although instead of traditional families as seen in GOT we could have more Mafia style, not necessarily all related style families.

I guess that this could be implemented because it was like that before.

This would completely destroy the point of lore...

This would completely destroy the point of lore... Not entirely, some would just have to be changed. And while I love reading lore, the fact is that the majority of players only actually read stuff when it applies to their characters, and spend most of their time playing instead. If I had to pick one over the other, it would be interesting gameplay over lore, since that would attract more players.

Game of thrones is not a video game, it's a book/tv show about a medieval world. And yes, in some aspects, it is similiar to the Elder Scrolls saga, though much more tuned to how medieval life really was. (i.e. less magical wizards and skeleton dungeons, more beheadings and dirt)

You'd have to rely on people's ability to come together and trust and support each other when forming a house, which is basically impossible. In short, it's a lot like Ned Stark. Great, but won't last long. Basically, there just need to be several powerful houses we form to start with, that are made powerful enough to control the lesser families and get them to swear fealty. Anyone who doesn't swear loyalty to a house would end up as a freerider/mercenary, likely shunned and spat upon, but probably doing brisk business underhand with assassinations and the like. Anyone can create their own new family name (by making a new character of that name) but unless that family owns land and has retainers, the family name would be worthless. All land in Mirugan would be divided among the noble families. If they deemed a lesser family worthy, a noble house could grant them a strip of land or even a small region from their domain to own and reside over. If they have enough land to do so, the lesser family could even divide their own gift of land among even lesser families, and get retainers of their own. Belonging to a family and being part of a group would be more appealing than being a freerider, since you'd have all the weight and power of the family's name at your disposal.

I think the one main draw into this would be that it would give pvp a purpose. The most fun aspect would be the "war" aspect, like, when you attack house A, houses B and C would call their banners and come rushing to defend house A from your forces, and then because house D hates house C, house D would march to assist your house in assaulting houses A, B, and C. Watching people take sides and betray each other would be the fun part, but the rush of epic battles will be pretty cool too. We'd have to alter the combat system though, so that everyone has bigger health bars, so that epic duels last longer than 3-clicks-you're-dead. 'Cause when you get killed in PVP your character dies.
