Emily was raised as a good little dwarf girl to a loving family. They worked hard everyday and had a nice little peaceful life. When Emily turned 17 she grew restless and decided to leave her home and wander the world a little before settling down in a nice cozy spot to live in peace. This is where her story begins.
To those who read this I made it to satisfy the people who wouldn't let her just play on a role-play server where nobody actually does any role-playing that I have seen. I find it ridiculous that you have to make this just to be something other then human... I guess the other races are extinct and cant be alive unless given a very good back story where they survived Armageddon or something x.x.... To those who have had to do this because of the same reason I have then you know how I feel.

You really should read up on the accepted bios and not be such a dick about this. If you have a problem with the policy take it up with a admin.

I should not have stopped harassing you, don't come to a new server and insult it. RP isn't as common as it should be right now but thats because of a number of factors, the bios for other races thing is to get more people eligible to RP therefore increasing the amount of RP. You need to create a character in detail within our world, not just a sentence do what the others say and read other bios from the accepted section. If you don't like it follow Plato's implied social contract from Crito and leave.

Just because you don't see it on the chat doesn't mean it doesn't exist. RP isn't global.

And if your gonna have classes and tell about them during the tutorial then you shouldn't complain when somebody picks one without submitting this thing.... I got to lvl 10 before anybody said anything. I personally didn't come here to really RP I came because of the small community and the fact that there's still the Heroes mod on it. The fact that I could become another race was a bonus and since you told me about it in the tutorial I took the chance and checked them all and choose 1. Bobruk you weren't online when it was happening you have no right to call me a dick... I'm not even male asshole.

Actually, I was the guide trying to help you. So yes, I was on. Now, read over the accepted bios, make it longer, take out the last paragraph and put forth effort. Also, calling me an asshole doesn't make me very happy and will cause you a lot of suffering.

I'm pretty sure it says you have to be human in the tutorial. If you don't want to RP just be human ok

I know you may not want to hear this, but mods have said before that you need an accepted bio to have a different race. You don't necessarily need to RP here, I know a couple of people who usually don't RP. But they did that bio, they got it accepted, they changed races. Now please, either fix this or just don't change races. Also, i personally rp as much as possible, and we need the bios because if you say your a dwarf and finally decide to rp without a bio, you will have no clue of your characters backstory, or anything about them.

I'm a young female dwarf looking for a really cozy place to settle down and relax and just have fun instead of being all stuffed up with her family doing the same thing day after day. Are we really gonna go do a table top campaign for my past? Sure it might not be a heroic story but I'm not trying to play a hero here. And bobruk why do you have a different name on here then on minecraft? that just doesn't make any sense....

Benefit of accepted bio, different name. Also, enough guys. Either she does it right or she becomes a human, End of story.

I find it ridiculous that you have to make this just to be something other then human... I guess the other races are extinct and cant be alive unless given a very good back story where they survived Armageddon or something x.x.... To those who have had to do this because of the same reason I have then you know how I feel. The real benefit of a bio is that it serves as a filter for lazy people and a good identifier of the people who are committed to the server. For some reason we don't believe in whitelisting (i've had my rants about why that is a good thing) but the RP bio serves as the best alternative. It ensures that the players have an easy way of identifying the people who took time out of their day to think about and contribute to the server. It shows that players have an intention to stay, that they care about the server and that they are someone you should trust and interact with. It helps us keep random griefers from joining our towns and helps us know that the people we interact with are intellectually competent enough to think up a halfway-decent fictional character. Even if you never RP, having the bio is still important for those reasons. That's not to say that you shouldn't RP, the best players are also those who are involved in the RP story, they view AoC as much about living the life of a character as about playing minecraft. RP presents a unique opportunity to interact with fun ideas, play around with creative writing and fiction and become a better writer and more creative thinker. If you would prefer to just shift blocks around all day and move pixels on a screen this server probably isn't a good fit for you anyway. Personally, I feel that the minecraft RP experience has beneficial spillover effects to my social, creative and ethical choices in real life and makes minecraft not a waste of time as much as a sandbox for building my IRL character as well as for building neat buildings and structures. The interaction between RP and gameplay means that I can try radically different personalities and ideas in minecraft and learn how they work and don't work with real people who are also playing deep and developed characters. For example, I am one of those people who shies away from leadership roles IRL but am attempting to take the position of a guild/town leader on the server so that I can get experience with leadership in a contained but complex environment. What I learn through serious RP and character development lets me become both more confident and effective in real life interactions. [/endrant] Seriously - if you give RP a sincere try it will change the way you think of minecraft and gaming as well as the way you approach life. RP can only be beneficial and makes the time you spend in gaming a worthwhile and education enterprise as well as a lot of fun.

First of all, everyone just calm it down a bit (free love dudes) and secondly, scheyst makes intelligent and reasonable points that deserve a read. But I'd like to point out that I have RP'd a grand total of 3 times, and not once have I taken it seriously. Despite this I have several RP writings which I really enjoyed writing, so just give it a proper try and maybe you'll discover that writing is actually a hell of a lot of fun sometimes because before I made my first bio I despised writing. And always keep in mind that RP'ing doesn't have to be super serious all the time, all I've ever done while RP'ing is have a laugh, make slightly inappropriate jokes on occasion and jokingly insult people. It's a game, so have some bloody fun with it.
Disturbingly happy mode no longer active.
Please read through some accepted bios to get a proper idea of what is expected.
