*As read in Had Thalion’s tattered journal, barely legible*
16th Age, Year 1747, Zicamgar’s Rise (Spring)
We have began our work on our new mining camp. The amount of diamond ore that we have found is still not processing clearly in our minds. It is almost as if Zicamgar himself has lead us to this area so that we may prosper. The only problem that we face is that it is almost inhabitable. The sheer magnitude of the cliffs is awe inspiring, yet problematic as well. We will have to come up with some way to build and survive if we are to mine this diamond.
16th Age, Year 1747, Zicamgar’s Idle (Fall)
Somehow we have managed to form some sort of settlement in this area, although at one point we almost gave in. A few houses have been built on the cliff’s walls, yet there are almost to many of us to fit in this small amount of housing that is available. We have managed to build a waterwheel to help us process the timber needed for construction, although we are not able to mine this diamond as of yet. I worry that I will not be able to provide food or enough shelter for my people by the time Silence arrives.
16th Age, Year 1748, Zicamgar’s Rise
My knowledge of iron working has come in use. I have devised a machine that will create continuous motion from the heat of the lava. I have tested it thoroughly and it seems to be able to work without fail. I believe that I can create some sort of drill mechanism so that we may be able to retrieve this diamond and begin trade with other cities. Silence was hard on my people and we barely survived, but it has made us stronger and we are fortunate enough to push through and create a dream.
16th Age, Year 1749, Zicamgar’s Reign
A factory has been built that is able to run off the power of wind and my ability to work iron. I have created gears that turn off the power of the windmill. A blade is attached and has torn through a mountain with shear force. We have enough materials now that we are able to finally finish the drill that I had imagined over a year ago. A mine track line has been established so that we may transfer our goods from across the harbor to the main town quicker.
16th Age, Year 1749, Zicamgar’s Idle
News has traveled of my creations and has brought the King of Rull. He has brought up an idea of a trade between Cliffside and Rull so that both towns may prosper and grow. I have thought this over and decided to sign on the agreement so that my people will not have the fear of starving once again.
16th Age, Year 1750, Zicamgar’s Rise
Our city is growing at a pace I would have never imagined. We have enough housing to properly provide shelter for those that work our mines. It is a sight to see, housing lining the cliffs, giant gears and cogs working with constant motion of the lava and wind. We have become a force to reckon with in terms of industry. It is said that we have began the “industrial” period and that many more cities are to follow in our footsteps. Until this happens, people have been coming to us for the amount of ores that we are able to produce. Our steam ships, which are run off lava, are leaving port daily with ores to be traded across Mirugan, mostly with Rull.
