I believe he will try to assume control soon.
A scream rings out from the Rull Cafeteria. I decide to investigate the sound that disturbs the night. The cafeteria is dark, the only light source being the moon’s light through the windows. I notice a flicker of movement, so feint that a human wouldn’t have noticed it. Words are spoken, but even with my heightened senses I’m not able to catch them. I move closer to the figure, and then notice someone on the ground.
“You have no reason for being here, so why are you?” The figure asked in a deep tone. He stepped into the moonlight. He was wearing a dark black cloak, even darker than mine.
“You have disturbed my night. I am here to make sure it does not happen again.” I as I say this I unsheathe Ensis and adopt a fighting stance.
“Your night? There are creatures of the night that have more right to it then you do. I will never understand your kind.”
“And you have no reason to.” I state as my mind switches from Arturo to Aenon. I step forward and slash from the upper-right to the lower-left in one motion. Sparks fly away from him. No…not him, his blade. The blade has a slight glow. It is enchanted. That’s how he deflected my blade with such ease. He stabs; I parry it, and then stab back. He evades, I dodge a downward slash then slash upward. It is deflected. I recover in mid-strike then switch my blades direction from upwards to sideways. It cuts him horizontally. Underneath is leather armor, it appears to be enchanted also.
“You have bested me this time fool! I’ll be back…for her.” He pointed towards the figure. It was Madison Scale. My mind switches back to Arturo at this moment. He dashes away as I run to help her.
“Madison, are you okay?” I ask
“I think so.”
“Who was that who attacked you?”
She tries to draw a breath, but can’t. I then see that one of her ribs has punctured a lung. I give her a potion of healing and help get her over to a bench.
“Thank you.” She says while still gasping for air.
“Don’t mention it, now who was that?”
“The man…who had killed my sister.”
After we say our goodbyes I start on the long journey back to TrueBlood City, my current residence. One of the only places where my kind are accepted and embraced. I think back to the time I had met Madison. It was a pitch black night. I was lurking around Rull when a shout comes from the port.
“Stop following me Madison!” The voice sounded very robotic.
I decided to go and see who had shouted this. The voice had intrigued me. At the port was a cyborg and a woman, who I assumed was Madison.
“Fools, why do you interrupt my peace? I ask scornfully.
“You call me the fool! You think I haven’t seen you skulking around here? My vision is enhanced…greatly.” Said the cyborg, he was the one who had shouted earlier.
“I have my reasons for skulking around, now why are you shouting?”
“This girl, Madison, keeps following me.” He looks around, then notices she’s gone “It appears she’s gone.”
“No. She is still here. I can sense her.”
“Madison come out!”
“What do you want?” Said Madison. She had brown hair and bright green eyes. A mortal would consider her attractive, but I have no time for such trivialities. She appeared to have a cheerful demeanor, yet you could tell from the eyes that she had been through a lot.
“Why are you following me?” Asked the cyborg.
“I was…I can’t tell you.”
“Answer…” I state strictly.
“I…I was spying on Cye for Invictum.” She responded. Cye, it appeared, was the cyborg. At that moment it started to storm.
“I’m going to rent a room in a nearby tavern; you may accompany me if you wish.” I offer.
“I will to get out of this storm.” Replied Madison.
“As will I.” Said Cye.
I rented a room for each of us at the highest class tavern in Rull. While in the lobby I asked them a question.
“Seeing as though I paid for your stay here, I want to know each of your stories.”
Cye started first. He was a cyborg from a different dimension. He was planning on going back soon to stop a beast from destroying the dimension. I haven’t seen him lately, so I assume he has went back to stop the beast. Madison was genetically altered at a facility in the Nether. She escaped, but her sister died in the process. After hearing both of these stories, I swore to help both of them with their tasks. Since Cye has disappeared, I help Madison as much as possible.
As I reach TrueBlood City (TBC) I see Kaelan waiting for me at the gates.
“It’s about time you got here. I’ve been waiting for a couple hours now.” He said.
“I encountered…an obstacle.”
“I wanted to talk to you about something.”
“Which would be?” I ask as he lets me through the gate into TBC. It is a rich town full of history, but is most known for its residents, most being vampires like I. He wants me to move out of my house into another one that we will build.
It takes us 2 weeks working nonstop to build this house. It is recognized as being one of the greatest structures in TBC for its architecture and many secrets.
“What would you like to name it?” Kaelan asks while wiping sweat on his forehead.
“You helped build it, you decide.” I reply.
He takes a sign and starts to scrawl on it. He hangs it above the door.
“Ensis Manor, after your blade.”
“That fits well. Thank you for the help Kaelan.”
The voice comments on this. Just as it does everything. The voice, to be exact, is Aenon. He is upset that we name a house after a blade of its stature. He is becoming more and more aggravated about my decisions. We are having more battles of will then anytime before. I believe he will try to assume control soon.
