"We will apply magic of growth here, in the sensory cortex. This will be enhanced by the magic in our blood. No one knows what effects will bring on our test subject, but hopefully....It'll be great." The corrupt elf Battlemage turned around to the humans and elves sitting around an image of a brain and various magical items. "Project Scopius will be a success."
Project Scopius was started by a corrupt elf battlemage, whose requests for experimentation on the elven brain were denied by the Alflaen kingdom. Eventually, he turned rogue, taking with him a fairly large number of associates and accomplices. The battlemage turned to a large window, looking down into a huge chamber, where Helis Chronodancer, a willing volunteer, sat in a magical-conducting chair, clothed in a custom robe. He was tied to the chair with enchanted strings, which would otherwise break because of the magic forces bearing down on it. "Hit the switch." he muttered. An elf assistant pulled a lever down, and immediately, various magical channeling devices were activated, including a probe that was stuck in Helis' brain. At once, Helis found his mind slowly go on fire, burning and freezing at the same time. He felt his blood disturbingly churn, swelling and shrinking. His vision turned inside out, black and white, and finally fading in and out. Suddenly, he heard shouts and death gurgles. His eyes shot to the window, and blood was splattered on it. He heard clashing of swords, and the battlemage shouting orders. Helis then saw the rogue mage hit a stone button and vanish in a cloud of black smoke. When the button was pressed, the poor elf's mind burst into proverbial flames, and his blood swelled unbelievably, leaving him to be shattered by the immense pain. He screamed, and then...black. When the Alfaen forces that shut down Project Scopius came in, they saw him presumably dead. "I thought we saved him." said one. "Yeah, when we reversed the killswitch that mage pressed." said another. "Well, it looks like he died before we pressed the reversal button." said the Sargent. "Let's just dump him in the river." And with that, Helis was trashed in the river for good, his corpse floating down and down and down. He was gone........
Or was he?
