The Second age of Zicmagar ended with Nether being lost to the minions of Zasuti and the extinction of the Pig-men. A great council was held in Solitude, Cealum to decide on the wisest actions that could be taken in response of the dire events. It was decided thus on the silence of the first year of the Third Age of Zicmagar that all races should become more vigilant of unidentified rifts which could lead to the Void. A ban was placed on private Worldgates and subsequent travels between dimensions should be conducted through the main portals in the capital of each dimension. Nether was then sealed permanently from the rest of the Nine Worlds. As the representatives of the remaining seven Firstborn left the Grand Hall, all mourned of the loss of one of their brethen.
It was during this era of instability that the great Vampire Mage (the 3rd ever to exist) Lorenzo was born to a a highly respected Vampire family of the House of Velentrailno in 5 Z3. As he drew his first breath, it was said that a white flame danced across the sky. In his childhood, he was loved by his parents but was extremely unusual in that strange events continuously happened around him. It was thus an extremely ill omen when Kulak Drakan (II) was killed during a highly unusual accident in 24 Z3 when attending the hunting party celebrating Lorenzo's birthday (it was thought later that Kulak's son Roarmulus was responsible). This suspicious event only fuel the fire of the vampire community's distrust for magic and by the time Lorenzo was a young adult in 100 Z3, he felt so outcast from Vampire society that he exiled himself to Amazonia. It was there that his magical talents were first recognized by the Arch-Mage Luna.
The untimely death of the 12th Blood Emperor (the first to die before retiring) brought turmoil to Almire as the Senate tried to decide the heir to the throne. This was complicated by that fact that there were two that were valid to take the throne since Kulak had two twin sons, Roarmulus and Roran (Vampire twins are Born simulaneouly rather than one after the other). Despite protests from Roran, he is crowned the new Blood Emperor due to his bravery in helping plague victims in 1400 Z2. Despite this ruling, many supporters of Roarmulus and Roarmulus himself continued to believe that the crown was his by right. This led him to be in conflict with his brother until his mysterious disappearance in 25 Z3.
Almire thus fared in peace for almost a thousand years. This peace was not to last, however, as Roarmulus was found alive in 1000 Z3. The twins enjoyed and apparently happy reunion and Roran, in particular, was eager to show his affection to his brother and offered Roarmulus positions of power. Unfortunately for the Emperor, his brother's character had much changed over the last thousand years of absence and Roarmulus'd true nature was revealed in 1013 Z3 when he murdered Roran and opened a rift to the Void.
It was afterwards revealed that Roarmulus's absence have been brought about from falling through a Rift to the Void. There, he was corrupted by Zasuti's teachings and promised the throne of Almire on condition that he should worship the Pantheon of Chaos. Roarmulus enlarged the rift and led a host of Demons into Almire, overwhelming the unprepared Vampire population. The Great Demon Hon then cast one of the most powerful curses ever attempted in the History of the Nine Worlds to enslave the Vampire race. The Great Curse was only partially successful as the Vampire Mage Lorenzo counteracted the spell (he returned to Almire in 1012 Z3 to visit his family), and thereafter, the Vampire were unable to bear children for all eternity. Dark was the day in the Silence of 1013 when the children of the Vampires whithered inside their mothers' wombs. Not soon later, Lorenzo had stired up a band of thirteen warriors that would be the first members of the Truebloods-the rebellion against Roarmulus.
It was during these dark times that the Last Child Kaelan Zapman was born to Serena Drakan and Vladimir Zapman. Before the first sign of wings, his parents were murdered by Roarmulus (his uncle) and was taken to be the False Emperor's son. While the civil war rage outside his palace, Kaelan lived a sheltered life. Thus he remained ignorant of the sufferings of his people.
This changed when he was rescued by the rebels after being wayliad by bandits during a visit to the uncle (1900 Z3). Lorenzo educated Kaelan of the reality outside the protective palace walls. Kaelan was filled with great rage for the lies that dominated his childhood. In 1200 Z3, he returned to his uncle, confronted and killed him. However, before Roarmulus died, he smashed Almire's portal stone. The Rift enlargened and Hom with the demons swamped the land.
It was thus that the surviving Vampires fled with the Truebloods across the collapsing Worldgate to Mirugan, sealing it behind them such that Hon and his Demons cannot follow. Finding an ideal spot, a city was constructed where the vampires took refuge ever since.
