The Very Recent History of Hearthglen
((I wrote it without many requirements due to the fact that it is a town turned estate. Will be making slight modifications overtime but only with vocabulary and grammar. Enjoy!))
Roughly two kilometers outside of Rull lies a small island only a few hundred meters off the mainland. This island is home to the recently formed Hearthglen. The last invasion of Zasuti within Rull had been successfully dealt with, but not without collateral damage to this town. After recently being rediscovered by Caelum Empyrean, the wood used to rebuild the town was mostly burned away, leaving massive structures to crumble and take out what was left of the town prior to Caelum’s arrival. Hangars, docks, and anything made of oak was demolished, save the airships. Caelum had managed to fly key airships out of harm’s way including his own, but could not save the larger ones in time.
After the fires died down, a great wall was constructed around the borders of the town and dubbed the Wall of Chasina, after his wife who had fallen in the earlier-mentioned destruction. Caelum again had to rebuild his town, but this time, from stone. As Zicamgar’s Reign began, most of the town had been restored to his original plan, with one key difference. The death of Caelum’s wife is said by some scholars to have been the main cause for his descent into the life of a hermit, while others theorize it was his 21 year flight. Whatever the case, Caelum has decided to close his gates off to all but a few guests which has transformed his town into his own estate.
As for the construction of Hearthglen, much of the buildings are built from stone shipped in from the mountainous region surrounding what was at the time, New Altoria. Anything constructed with wood is a survivor of the fire and brimstone rained upon the city during the last invasion. The reason for this is currently unknown. Some speculate it is a special property of the wood found on the island, while others consider it pure coincidence.
Not much is known at this time about the town due to the seclusion of its sole occupant. Some reports indicate he is organizing trade agreements with other towns. No military is found on the island, and plans for one have not shown up in any of Caelum’s journals. This has been a major reason in the island allying with Rull.
For further information, one can always inquire with Caelum Empyrean. He may not grant you access but he will still answer questions as he did with the writers of this article.
Recently, however, some sources who have spoken with the man have learned that he may be searching for someone capable and trustworthy to run his humble island as he secludes himself within his, what appears to be, under construction tower. By his standards, some believe he may pick one who is aggressive and strong enough to lead in his absence.
Whatever the case may be, what little we currently see of Hearthglen's sole occupant may turn into a rare glimpse of a shadowy figure shifting around within the locked floors of a mighty stone tower.
