New Bretonville is situated in a sprawling radius around the beach where Bretons first set foot in Central Mirugan.
In the mid-16th age, after the gradual redevelopment and integration of mechanics back into the new Breton society, the Bretons started to feel the Skylord lust for travel. The knowledge of the marvelous airships lost through the generations, they turned their minds to the sea. Developing innovative new steam engine designs, they started sending expeditions of the Bretonvil coastline.
However, it was not until Zicamgar's Idle in 1773 that an expedition turned up results. After many weeks of sailing, the Bretons spotted another coastline. Eager to explore, they dropped anchor and rowed to the beach, planting a flag and claiming the new continent, naming it New Bretonville.
After several days of exploring, they found that they were not alone. They had stumbled upon Central Mirugan, already well populated, and it did not take the Bretons long before they ran into a settlement. Shocked, since Bretons had never seen any other beings for centuries, they impulsively attacked, destroying several buildings and scaring away most of the peaceful villagers.
Returning to their ship, they informed their captain of what had happened. At the same time, the villagers had sent messengers to Rull, notifying the King of the "pirates". Within days an assembly of soldiers and diplomats had arrived at the beach site, and wished to parley with the "pirates".
The Breton captain agreed, and the two sides had a meeting halfway up the beach. Exchanging words, it was soon made clear that the Bretons were NOT pirates, but the Rull ambassador made it clear that the Bretons could NOT claim Central Mirugan for themselves. After much debating, the meeting adjourned so they could contact their respective leaders.
Both the Breton Prime Minister and the King of Rull were surprised to hear that they had continental neighbors. Wanting to speak with Breton leadership himself, the King had the ambassador arrange for a radio line to the Prime Minister.
Hours went by as the leaders argued and traded knowledge, but finally a decision was made. There would not be any more violence, the Bretons could mark off a limited amount of land around the beach as theirs so long as Rull could build an embassy in Bretonvil as well.
The Breton embassy kept the name of New Bretonville, and the captain was made into the first Breton Ambassador. His name was Tobias LeThee. Given the choice of going or staying, many of the ship's crew had their families brought over to stay with them. As the years passed, more Bretons immigrated to Central Mirugan, forming New Bretonville into an actual town, and eventually spreading out into the various towns and regions of the continent.
To this day New Bretonville remains a proud display of Breton technology, science, and mechanics, always happy to teach Central Mirugan inhabitants about the Breton's Skylord heritage. Although many generations have passed and the family has grown, a LeThee has always stepped up to assume the role of Ambassador. Currently, the Ambassador is Chadwick LeThee, who is managing the town by distance as he completes his medical training at Rull Hospital.
New Bretonville is an extension of the Bretonvil nation, and therefore is an ally to Rull, but does not fall under its jurisdiction.
(Like the USA and Canada, Rull and Bretonvil are allies but do not necessarily act or fight for the same causes)
