One day in the tundra, a small family of nomads were clustered in a small room they built for this occasion, childbirth. This was the first day of Jed Lezouski's life. His mother, Fyna, was in labor for over two hours, too long. As Jed was born his mother said her last word, "Jed." As he was the only son and last remnant of fyna, his father, Jedre, took great care of him, making sure he was never taken to harm.
Jed grew up like any other child except for the fact that he wasn't as physically strong as the other nomads. No, he could barely even fell a tree, unlike most children who could easily cut it down. slowly but surely, Jedre became more and more disappointed in his son for the fact that he was a failure and his mother died to give him life, which to jedro, was wasted. But Jed didn't care. he saw things differently than the other chldren and his father.
He thought living in one place and farming and hunting there would be better than wandering to find food and shelter. he also found lighting intriguing, instead of being frightened. His father one day beat him for coming back form a long trip, with very little success. Jedre was not happy at all, but he did notice one thing, thunder roared everytime he struck his son.
Only observing that in one place before, he quickly stopped and let his son go to bed. He thought long and hard about it that night and how he would deal with Jed. He devised a plan that would test his son. In the morning Jed woke up and started packing his stuff for the day's travel. Jedre decided now was the time and jumped on his son acting like the night's zombies would. Jed fought back as hard as he could. Every time he touched his enemy, his opponent would jerk quickly as if shocked. When he looked at his attacker, it was his father. Jedre quickly explained what that was and why. Jedre was testing him for magic.
Shocked at this revelation, he backed away from his father and continued packing as if nothing had happened. But something HAD happened, he learned of his unusual talent and thought on it. Could it be true? It would explain his weakness in physical strength and why he questioned everything, but it was so much to comprehend.
about 3 years later he was still thinking of the incident when he and Jedre came around to a creeper, a strange creature that self-destructed to cause damage. His father pulled out his bow and started firing. Jed could do nothing but watch as he couldn't get close for the danger of detonation, and he didn't have a bow. the creeper got within explosion range of Jedre and Jed screamed, "NOO" and lightning came down to strike the creature.
shakened by the thunderclap and the surprise of his luck, or talent, he didn't know, he didn't notice Jedre on the ground beside him, burnt and without his left arm. When Jed came to, he quickly ran to his father, who was moaning in pain. Jed quickly pulled him over to a clearing and constructed a meager but effective shelter around his father.
Jed told his father "I will return with help, or not at all" exausted and ridden with pain, Jedre fell asleep on the small cot. Jed quickly ran off to find help. As he ran, he decided that lightning was no accident, it was him. HE had struck his father. HE had causeed him so much pain. HE had possibly just killed his father. The ideas infuriated him, giving him strength he had never known in his stride, making his trip much quicker. The trip was to an unknown destination, anywhere that he could find help. As he ran, there was much light in the distance, and tall structures of building materials that were unknown to him. Jed quickly found himself in the throng of a city, which when asked, the people called it Rull.
