Bracus Adonexus leaned against the cold stone-wall and took a shuddering breath, it had been almost 2 hours since Whence had left Bracus to fend for himself while he continued the chase of Shezz and Ezio.
“I need to get a doctor” muttered Bracus to himself, for the stab wound in his side had to Bracus’ utter horror slowly mortified and started seething thick and disgusting puss.
As he was walking past one of the many inns dotting Rull’s streets someone caught his eye.
He was a medium sized man of a good calibre he definitely looked like he could throw a punch, he also had a particular hoe attached to his belt, Bracus recognised that hoe, it’s owner had saved him many times over the previous years as had Bracus returned the favour
It was Hirichio an old keeper of Atlantis.
Until now Bracus had thought that he had been the only one to survive the Atlantis incident but clearly others had fled just before pure and utter terror smacked them in the face.
Bracus slowly stumbled towards Hirichio
“Hiricho long time no see” groaned Bracus
“Bracus… what happened to you” replied Hirichio
“more about that later, right now I need a doct….”
And with that Bracus fainted.
When he woke up he was inside a shabby old hovel with only the bare minimum. A bandage had been wrapped around his chest while his hands were soaking in a vile smelling liquid, then the pain struck him, it was a terrible and agonising pain emitting from his chest.
“Whoa..” Bracus said in a constrained voice
“You’re lucky to be alive,” Hirichio grunted
“Where are we?”
“an abandoned old hut I found just of the highway” replied Hirichio getting up to stir a pot on top of the small pot smouldering over a fire in the corner.
Bracus tried to get up pushing against the small hay pile he was lying in but quickly collapsed as his muscles failed him.
“you need to rest Bracus we’ll make our move wants you can walk”
“where are we going?” asked Bracus
“A small hamlet has recently been founded on a small island not too far away from Atlantis, we will bide our time there waiting for you to fully recover, only then will we make our way back to Rull and help find peace.”
The next day came the questions that had been broiling inside Bracus since he had seen Hirichio hobbled over that inn bench
“how and why did you… you know, leave without anyone noticing. I thought you were struck.”
“no I am very much still alive, but the illusions you and everyone else saw were a lie, I was the only one to see what was really happening. There were about eight of them, wraths straddlers of Luca’s army, they killed all of them every single one of them without mercy and gruesomely. They thought that no-one could see but I could see all right and I will definitely never forget it. Another not well known ability that wraths have is the ability to forge illusions and insert them into your head. But I have learned to resist those kind of things.”
“hmmm, you outa teach me how” muttered Bracus
“but now Bracus you must rest, we have a long journey ahead of us”
And so Hirichio and Bracus waited out the days, weeks and even months for Bracus’ wounds to clear up enough for him to walk. Finally after months of lying low ready to move the pair hobbled towards the horizon. They new they would have to pass through the ruins of old Atlantis maybe they would have their chance to eradicate the foul beasts that ruined their lives and everything they new…
