The Naguhal State

<sup>Before there was ever the idea of having custom maps with custom continents SupaDupaZombee sailed a very long long way away from Rull and landed on far way shores. I joined his town and have very rarely seen players roaming around.

I broke off and formed my own town quite some ways away from him. Still have not seen many people around. As far as was concerned at the time, and the feeling still persists, That is a whole other place completely unrelated to Rull.

So I have invented a whole different society up here, maybe some things come into conflict with the official lore but my culture does not have to be similar to yours. I accept there is only one truth out there and as far as I am concerned you might be right and I might be wrong.

Of course you also face the same possibilities.</sup>

Myth Of Creation.

During the first time the tree of life was gave its first fruits in the gardens of the high places. The first fruit matured and turned into the goddess Tawa Antin, the second fruit gave birth to the god Caonabo Rionex.

They loved each other at first sight and lived happily under the shadow of the tree of life. Out of the consummation of their love the goddess gave birth to many children and soon the garden was populated by their family.

One day the goddess ate from the tree of life like she used to but the fruit slipped from her hand and fell down to earth, out of this fruit the first father was born. Our first father was all alone on earth and was sad because he had no one to keep him company.

The goddess Tawa Antin felt pity for him and plucked another fruit from the tree and threw it to earth giving birth to our first mother. Our first mother and first father met each other and loved one another from the beginning giving birth to all people on earth.

Slowly the world was starting to be populated just like the garden in the high places, but unlike the high places the earth was a dangerous and hostile world at some times. The people had not forgotten the mercy of the goddess and thus in times of need prayed for her to intervene.

Tawa Antin heard the cries of the people of earth and helped them overcome the obstacles they faced in their mortal lives. Soon the world was full with people thanks to the love and care of the goddess.

It happened that in the high places one named Vaksum saw how much attention the goddess gave to the people of earth and disliked them for that fact. He took his concern to his brothers who plotted to destroy all the people on earth, they took fruit from the tree of life and waited for it to rot and then threw it down to earth giving birth to all the monsters that roam the land.

The monsters killed and slaughtered many of the people of earth until they cried for help and the goddess learned of the plot Vaksum and his brothers had carried out against the people of earth.

But Vaksum and his brothers knew that the goddess would bring her case before her husband Caonabo and he would surely kill them. They decided to strike him first and laid in ambush for him and when Caonabo appeared they came forth from their places of hiding and took his life.

There was war in the garden after while the people of earth tried to fight against the monsters as best as they could. Many died both in the high places and on earth.

Until the last battle took place in the garden where Vaksum and his brothers where banished from the garden to never return. The gods in the high places rejoiced and celebrated their victory and the end off the war that had cost them so much.

Tawa Antin however did not forget the people of earth and although she still mourned the loss of her husband she send his favorite son who was a mirror of his image to help the people of earth. The great warrior descended from heavens wielding almighty sword which he used to cleanse the land. His name was Zacim Agar.

And thus began the era now known as the second time.

<sup>The Naguhal State is made up by three cities. One of which I Have built and the other two still need to build them. It will not take me more than three weeks to do so and that is mostly because I have to work otherwise It would only take me two.

They all feature two or three massive buildings, all buildings are functional and at the same time artistic. They all specialze in something the other doesnt and the different terrains is a good excuse for me to get creative with my buildings.

They also have their own myth behind how they came to be.</sup>

Founding of the tree cities.

Long after the descent of Zicam Agar our first father walked through the land trying to find a suitable place where to raise his three daughters. Their names where, Guarina, Anacaona and Dayayra.

He found a suitable place to settle down in the land of Naguhal and left the decision to picking a spot for their home to his daughters. Anacaona wanted to live where the land kissed the sea, Dayayra wanted to live in the hidden valley and Guarina wanted to live in the verdant jungles.

While they debated time passed until the first father decided to let them each build a house in the places they preferred. With the passing of more times the three women bore many children and their houses became full, soon the houses where not enough for the respective families as they multiplied.

And so the three cities of the Naguhal State came to stand Altapetal by the sea. Katanga in the hidden valley and Gualey in the jungles.

^{Following is a brief history of the Naguhal state up to current events.}

The Naguhal Triple Alliance

Despite the great descent of Zacim Agar the Naguhal lands where still surrounded by monster who where growing ever more organized. So the three villages remembering that they where all sons and daughters of the first father banded together to fight against the monster invasions.

Their courage and intelligence drove the monsters out of their lands and the young men and women came back from the war to share their wisdom as great warriors to the next generations.

During times of peace afterward the rivalry of the three sisters resurfaced and the three cities competed with each other trying to appear grander than its sister. This escalated from friendly competition to a deep rift that divided the Naguhal state in three.

Sensing the division between the three cities the monsters attacked once more trying to encircle the jungle city of Gualey. Their Jaguar Warriors fought valiantly in the jungles against the monsters and hoped that her sisters would remember that they where all daughters of the first father.

Altapetal hearing of the distress of Gualey dispatched the Coyote Runners to break the encirclement while Katanga send the best from the Atl Atl to strike at the rear of the enemy lines.

Once the monsters where defeated and the situation defused the three cities vowed to never forget their origins and they close ties so that a tragedy like this would never happen again.

Many years later the first travelers of Mirugan, from where the Mirugan took their name arrived at their shores. They where surprised to see people from across the great ocean and the vessels they sailed where much much larger than their own.

They arrived in Altapetal first and met with the All High, Manco Petete who welcomed them into his city. He learned much from his guests and also answered all their questions.

Afterwards there was an epidemic through the Naguhal state that killed many. The popular belief was that it had been brought by the Mirugan, but it could not be proved. Still a lot of people held resentment towards the people that lived across the sea.

It took many years to finally have the disease under control until more people of Mirugan came and settled on the borders of the Naguhal State. They where warriors that fought against monsters that disguised themselves as humans called Vampires. They gave the people of Naguhal a treatment for the disease and so began the relationship of the Naguhal State and Kreuzestad.

From the symbiotic relationship between the two the Naguhal learned the concepts of money the building of sea worthy boats and also shared they knowledge with the newcomers.

Since then contact has been made with Mirrugan and the seat of power in Rull and the Triple Alliance keeps cool relations with its new founds neighbors in Kreuzestad.

The Mirugan Guide To The Naguhal State

Naguhal State is located in the Naguhal continent where it takes its name from. The three cities are in very friendly terms with one another despite the distance between them since their origins are very similar if not the same.

The Naguhal State for some reason has a higher birthrate of females than males, however the culture since its origins has never had restriction to what roles women may and may not take and polygamy is the norm. So there are no social problems deriving from this disparity of the sexes.

The people in the Triple Alliance have long relied on communalism and barter as their means to do trade having been forging their own currency very recently. The money is mostly used to deal with other city states like Kruezestad or with Mirrugan.

To get by the citizens follow an unspoken rule of exchanging favors. As an outsider they will offer you food and lodging at no cost but they will eventually ask for small favors in return. It is indeed a form of trading but it is the secret to why the people are so tightly knit, their bonds are comparable to that of brothers who have been born and raised together.

The Tripple Alliance militarily speaking has a very small standing army for each city. In Altapetal they have the coyote runners, they dress in the winter furs of coyote's and wield mostly Iron swords.

The Atl Atl's are the standing military for Katanga, they wear leather armor and feel at home climbing steep mountains and running across open plains.

The Jaguar Warriors are expert in jungle warfare, they blend into wooded areas giving the illusion that they can appear and disappear at will.

Travelers beware that there is still lingering resentment for an epidemic caused by the flu virus that was transmitted by one of the first explorers who discovered the Naguhal.

The Naguhal system of government is an evolution of the hierarchy found in any household and translated to a bigger scale. People are organized in tribes, which is an alliance of houses that share a similar opinions often related by blood to one another. Some houses have 7 members some up to 30.

Each house has a leading figure that is candidate to become chieftain of the tribe. All leaders of their respective houses cast a vote, however they may not vote for themselves.

Altapetal has 14 tribes, Katanga 11 and Gualey has 9.

These houses than cast their vote for the king, the Naguhal refer to them as All High. The All High usually rules until their death by natural causes or otherwise unless their health does not allow them to carry out their duties. However it is not uncommon for an All High to step down willingly.

The most popular activity of the Naguhal is the fighting pit, where the locals fight against each other as a way to settle their rivalries or simply release stress. Twice a year the Atl Atl, Coyote Runners and Jaguar Warriors hold friendly competitions in the three cities. The prize is bragging rights for the city that wins over the other two.

Mirugan's a big world, and having another culture detatched from the rest of the known world is actually somewhat realistic. The cultures are both extremely diferent, and he actually took real world history, namely the arrival of the spanish in mayan territory for the first time, and rolled with it, with the epidemic thing. I fully support this idea, as it helps add more variety and color to the world.

I have to agree with you Lunair entirely. But only in terms of the realism of this thread.

This is cool. I have thought it odd that their is such a lack of cultural diversity. Also it gives the priesthood something else to do. If this gets excepted expect missionaries eventually.

It was my point to have another culture in the world, I did not intend it to be totally detached tough. I made a risky move and made up a prequel to the story of Zicmagar explaining the creation of heaven and earth and the creation of mankind and monsters. Zicamgar was also added under the mane of Zacim Agar and his story retold with a slightly different twist.

This however does not have to be widely accepted by all players, because these are the beliefs of a separate culture that lives far away from Mirugan.

This has made some people frown but as you put it and was to break away from the renaissance high fantasy setting going on. Adding more variety to the world.

My mythology of creation does pose a serious threat to the established mythology of creation. My intention was for it to be just the mythology of creation and not the actual religion to be followed.

The religion I suggest is the cult to a common ancestor called the First Father and his offspring out of which the Triple Alliance was born from. This is still a different culture but cultures do not have to be the same.

<sup>In all honesty the inspiration was drawn from a hypothetical what if scenario of real life history. Because the new world was a very old world to begin with. And there where 3 civilizations established that could match European civilization in all aspects except weaponry. They where not less a less advanced civilization, or a failed attempt at a civilization but an alternate form of civilization.
