Reason why you are banned: I was banned for "use of a hacked client typing -irc toggle."

Reason ban should be lifted.
I wasn't using a hacked client though I was just trying to get this mod to work:

So that I could see if I could connect to a tf2 trading IRC from steamop forums while I was in game (multitasking). I didn't remember how to toggle it so I typed "irc toggle minecraft" into google and the first link said: "And that, sir, is why you can toggle the IRC. ... do -irc toggle."
I didn't realize it was about a different mod than the one I was trying to get to work which would explain how it showed up in chat. Turns out the correct toggle switch is just to hit the "Y" key.
So essentially what happened was I followed the wrong instructions and my command showed up in chat instead of just letting me join an IRC channel while in game.
If there is any way I could be unbanned I would appreciate it. Especially if it could be quickly because when I was banned a few of the chests at my house were left open and I don't want to be stolen from

Oh, I didn't even see that. So even though the IRC mod doesn't effect gameplay it's not allowed? I just have to have IRC open in a different window on my computer to use it? Is there anyway my ban could be reduced or I could get a second chance? I didn't see anything about "approved mods" on this thread:

So I assumed if it wasn't a hack it was ok. I will of course remove the IRC mod from my client if you let me back.

I seem to still be banned or to have been rebanned or something. I cannot access the mcbans page either to see what happened. I just get a "website is currently unreachable" page. Could someone help me figure out what happened?
