Down through history, their blood stretched, Hiding and aging in the shadows of time.... always finding some place to hold up and avoid the world's troubles... The Dee-Aru. The Dee-Aru were something of a counterpart to the human species. The Fox have lived since just years short of the birth of humanity. Most of the pre-Valic history was lost, though. (Pre-Valic refers to the time before the Fox lived on the island of Valunhalk). Of all the Post-Valic writings, few hold to be interesting. The Valic libraries hold many volumes of history about their gods, The moon and her "Sisters," said to be five spiritual entities that brought the Fox into existence. But that was before the Incident. A long time ago, A group of thieves were aroused by sudden realization of Valunhalk's wealth. In order to steal these treasures, some of these Fox had changed and remade their tribal garbs into something less heavy, something much darker, and a whole lot easier to wear. They'd coax various Dee-Aru into doing many things from looking the other ways or helping them sneak around. They'd pick pockets, burglarize houses, and do steal anything in their sight, Until they went too far... The Five Mothers were angry, their many chapels and temples had been ransacked, their worshippers disturbed. In order to stop the thieves, the Five cast their wrath apon Valunhalk, and slowly, the island fell into ruin, Its many riches faded. The thieves were eventually turned in by their many contacts when they realized the destruction the rogues had caused them. The land was slowly corrupting more and more. in Modern Day Mirugan, the Dee-Aruic people are struggling to maintain peace with the Five and fight back the land curse. (More to come!)
[what's below was my first attempt. what you see above is my thoroughly rearranged description of the race.]
The Pʼáqsmʻn: Referred to by many names, rarely their true name. Some call them werewolves, which they are not. This is a common misguidance, but Pʼáqsmʻn have one shape where a werewolf has two. In addition to this, the Pʼáqsmʻn are more like fox people, or furred men. Some call them elf-crossbreeds, Which may be possible. They range from Six feet - 7 feet 1 inches in height. They are slim and tall. Usually have brown, purple, blue, green or red eyes. Fur colors range from Black, greys, White, brown, and Orange, sometimes red. Pʼáqsmʻn do have claws, but they are not good for fighting.
Culture and Religion, Etc.:
Subsection: Gods. The Pʼáqsmʻn worship the Moon, "Nundas," and her "Sisters" "Rundas," The Choser of Moon-song, "Imirine, the Harsh-mother, associated with bad omens, worshipped to reduce bad omens, "Yur'me," The Kind-mother, Said to have cradled Lykos into existence. Last is the mother "Lyri," Who is said to guard the island, and aids Nundas in making the Moonbridge.
When referring to all the Five, they are referred to as Highmaidens, Moondaughters, The Five Mothers, and so on.
Subsection: Tradition. Many Pʼáqsmʻnish traditions are ancient, and have long lived on the Island. The main tradition, The Pilgrimage, is one of the most important. On which, Pʼáqsmʻn wear their darkest robes, head out to the Five Sand Circles, Strange sand marks on the island, and stand on the smallest circle in the middle of the other four. the smallest represents Lyri. This is, in a way, a prayer to Lyri to protect the individual from failing on the Trial of the Moonbridge.
Subsection: The Moonbridge. The moonbridge is the Figurate "Bridge" made of pure moonlight, across which Pʼáqsmʻn are allowed to leave the island, and only by this method CAN they leave the island.
History: The Pʼáqsmʻn history dates back to their making, which does rarely mention non-furred humanoid races living in the marshes. eventually, The Pʼáqsmʻn and these no-furs were competing for materials, and the No-furs died out from the island. Only one document of the time of the No-furs is still readable today, and it states that the "No-furs had brought strange-looking pups to the island, which turned up to instead of being loyal dogs and wolves, a far superior race than the average wolf." the no-furs described them as fox-like people.
The Island Valunhalk.
Valunhalk is the island on which the Pʼáqsmʻn live. It is actually two island, connected by a landbridge that sank ages ago. The island is covered with Jungles and even one Marsh area on the northern island. One religious site, the Talons of the Five Mothers, is an area where 5 orbs of sand, four on the outside, gradually getting smaller till the smallest is between the four, are strangely marked flat into the ground, even though there are no Deserts on or in Valunhalk.
Origin: It's here. The birth of the long-questioned Pʼáqsmʻn. The island was a peaceful place. The fox-men lived among the no-furs freely. originally, it is told that the Pups were brought to Valunhalk by the no-furs, but aye, the Fox had been among the jungles longer. The No-Furs, it appears, were an ancient breed of elf that often lived underground. they were called the nork'ilum. For ages, they lived in peace, and even the death of the Nork'Ilum was not brought apon them by the Foxmen. It is said that the Pʼáqsmʻn Evolved from the average fox. (More to come.)
