Zygospore
Zygospore was created during the year 1805 during the Fourth age of Zicamgar after the great trek of the Mushroom-Men from the archipelago Amanita. The Mushroom-Men brought a small seedling from the Great Mushroom, a megafungi that came from the world Miscellanea. The seedling came from the last Great Mushroom that was within a great temple they ad to OnddoFang, their god, on the island Phalloides.
When the Mushroom-Men arrived in Central Mirugan, they started fields of mushrooms and small settlements to live in. The leader of the Mushroom-Men, Boletus.Fungus then went off on a journey to find civilization. After his return to the settlement, he told his kind about how endangered his people were from thieves and raiders. In response, the people created great walls surrounding the largest of the settlements, which they called Zygospore. Within the center of the town they created a new temple in the likeness of the original. They planted the Great Mushroom seedling within this temple.
The town started to flourish. Many visitors started to come and many residents became quite wealthy. Eventually, many from other races came to the town and started a live within it. The Great Mushroom seedling started to grow to great sizes as the town grew in size. The people went to live in houses made of giant mushrooms with large basements.
Climate
The weather near Zygospore is quite calm. The sky is almost always clear and there is rain every once and awhile. Instead of grass they have mycelium growing atop grass and instead of flowers and trees there is mushrooms. The wildlife very odd, animals symbiotic with fungus like mooshrooms, which they breed for meat, milk, leather and mushrooms.
Culture and Economy
The people of Zygospore quite often listen to music played on drums made out of hollowed mushroom stalks and mooshroom leather. The town has a great pavilion where they have concerts. Zygospore has one of the largest markets for mushrooms and mooshrooms. The people of Zygospore are also quite skilled bartenders (as I lack a better word). They are famous for a cocktail they created using brown mushrooms and unpasteurized mooshroom milk which they call "mushroom milk". The beef and mushrooms exported from Zygospore are considered to be of very high quality.
The people of Zygospore worship OnddoFang due to his blessings to the Mushroom-Men. These blessings let the mushrooms grow and the mooshrooms breed so they could survive here in Central Mirugan. They also worship the gods Viridia and Uisceair due to their relations with the OnddoFang.
Citizens and Alignment
The people of Zygospore are of great diversity. After the Mushroom-Men, the most highly populated race within the town is Elves and Mermen. There are a few Vampires and Pigmen as well. Humans, Dwarves and Enderites are not accepted to even enter except for a small few. The town is neutral. They believe that nature is a very powerful force and machinery is there to destroy it. Being a healer or alchemist will keep you in high esteem within the town.
Laws
engineering is illegal and many mechanical devices are not allowed within the town like pistons, clocks and iron golems. Redstone is not to be used withing the town boundaries. If the substance is found, one must bring it to the authorities or get rid of it. Murder, thievery and other common laws are in place. Harming the Great Mushroom in any way is punishable by death. Letting in guests is permitted by all citizens but if that person is banished or a fugitive of the town the offender will be forbidden from entering the town unless a sign from OnddoFang is bestowed apon the towns leader, Boletus.Fungus
Architecture
The architecture of Zygospore is very unique. Many buildings compose of multiple giant mushrooms connected by bridges and underground tunnels. The houses have deep, large basements which they spend most of there time in. The surface part is usually only entrances or alchemy labs. The large temple at the center of the town resembles a Greek temple made of stone brick. There is a large hole in the center of the roof so that the Great Mushroom has room to grow out of the temple. The pavilions made for dining and mushroom drum concerts are large, circular and open roof (like all pavilions). The town's harbor has many small docks for fishing boats and underground caves for the mermen residents. The town has a very large underground network of tunnels that every resident has access to. The tunnels have underground canals as well to allow access for the mermen. Near the entrance of town they have a large stables for their main form of transportation, the mushroom turtle dragons.
