I have a friend who straight up refuses to even try watching anime. It's not that hes seen it and didn't like it, it's that he doesn't want to change. What should I show him to change his mind?

Tell him about hentai then he'll be more interested  . I'm joking, just try showing him the ones that are also American like afro samurai. If he likes Samuel.L. Jackson then hell defiantly like this one and it'll be ready for ordaa. |

Depends on what type of show he likes. Death note is good if he likes the really smart, epic kind if show. Hellsing is great if he likes blood, gore and amazing voice actors. Fooly Cooly is awesome for something just insane and funny. For blood, violence and lots of fan service high-school of the dead should do. It really depends on what sort of genres he likes. Cowboy Beebop might also be good for him but I haven't actually seen it yet so I don't know much about what it's like.

generally a sharp stick will make them want to do it... i would say tell them to watch Steins;Gate but it starts off to slow.

Just knock him out, drag him into a dark room, Record yourself and force him to watch anime or tell him you will kill a cute kitten, once he finish watching it, knock him out again and put him where he was, when he wakes up, lie to him and then ask wanna watch anime? If he refuses, Well.. Repeat everything.
