From my understanding AoC almost had a wiki once. I was wondering if I could get permission to 'take over' that abandoned project and create a better wiki for AoC. I don't have time to be a good guide/staff member but I really want to help make this community stronger and I've been meaning to mess around with MediaWiki for a while just so I can learn a bit more about webhosting/design so this sounds like it would be the perfect project for me to contribute to the server with, especially since I don't have much to do in game until someone gets around to approving my guild's town (*nudge nudge*).
I would volunteer to host the wiki, administrate it, deal with spammers, maintain it, check for bad edits and add essential information to it myself. So there shouldn't be any additional work for the server staff but I figured it would be best to double check that it's ok for me to do this before I put too much work into it.
Anyone have any opinions or advice about this?
EDIT: The things the wiki would have would be basics about getting started on AoC (Rules, RP-Writing Tips/Instructions, Donator Tiers and information), plugin documentation (Details about Heros that are easier to navigate through than that 40page thread we have going), lore guides (the background of different towns, races, guilds, gods etc.), character pages (describing people's RP personas) and whatever else people think would make a good addition.

I really like this idea! I was actually thinking of doing this myself! 100% support. Maybe not the RP bios though, that would be WAY to much pages.

I wouldnt allow a separately hosted wiki, but i would allow you to be a wiki editor.

I wouldnt allow a separately hosted wiki, but i would allow you to be a wiki editor. That works too, the main reason I volunteered to host one is just because I find wikia unprofessional/hard to navigate so I thinking about running a more wikipedia/minecraft-wiki style MediaWiki site, but if you would prefer that I just get involved on making the wikia site useful I'd be glad to write pages there instead.

What we really need is a trope page.

I'd happily work on this page if needed.

I know mikey gave you the job, but I'd like to point out that with the wiki that mikey made, it seems anyone can edit. I don't think IGmikey realized this. But, I suggest you don't touch it without his permission.

I was given the job to do it, but I'm quite busy, and barely no time for working on the wiki.

This seems good, it could improve our server by miles. I don't mind this at all.
