Welcome Valued reader to my story! If you have noticed I created a character (shirley saltweather) recently and I want you guys to know... IGNORE IT. I decided to continue with this character because I realised the potential of this one and continued with it.
So... ENJOY :D
It was a dusty sort of day. Midsummer was just on the horizon and the grass was a lush green underneath the old oak trees. The river flowed silently through the forest and into the low ebbing sea. The sound of water and birds filled the air and all was peaceful
SMACK…SMACK…SMACK…
The silence was rent by the sound of my axe hitting a tree. I wiped my brow and lifted his axe another time. Another few hits and the tree would be felled. Suddenly, something made my eyes dart towards the tree line on the other side of the river. Quietly I crouched down and moved towards the river, passing through the forest was a group of scout stalking through the bushes and I recognized their uniform almost immediately. It was the uniform from my homeland. Quietly I slipped back into the trees and commenced running back to my house.
Opening the door I call for my family
“Look, You really need to get out of here. Unfortunately Braccus died recently and whence has been missing for quite a while. So go to professor James.Denhurst and ask him to help, quickly grab some clothes and other essentials and go! The invaders are here!” Realising the urgency in my voice they quickly grabbed a pair of clothes and left disappearing silently into the woods. Then tears standing in my eyes I proceeded to search for my coat, it was going to be a long time ‘till I see them again… If ever.
Tough hands where put roughly on my shoulder as I was hauled an-board the ship. As I expected their ship had sailed down the river and the scouts had discovered the tree that I was cutting down. Within 20 minutes of my family leaving they had found my house. Luckily it was ample time to get rid of all evidence that anyone except for me was living in the house. The men on either side of me where quiet nothing more than the slight whistle of air going in and out of their nostrils. The ship was huge, a large hull was at least 30 metres in length and the sail was large and square, a depiction of the barbs mentality. Men were walking on the shore, stretching their legs and cooking on fires. The sun was going down and it set a glorious glow on the land.
“Chief, your man” (Barb dialogue) said the man to the left of myself as he thrust me forward.
“Good” the man said and when I looked up into those merciless eyes, I flashed back.
The smell of ozone filled the air and I saw the lightning light up the sky. The wooden huts that made up our village weren’t very soundproof. A man was sitting across the table from me and waited while I looked out the window.
“Hiricho we have to talk” Yotuk said.
“Yes” I said dryly “why else would I be here?”
“Don’t mess with me! I’ve had it up to here with you and your associates” Yotuk shouted “as I said you have to go central mirugan otherwise you won’t be allowed to leave the secret service after 8 years” he said calming a bit “if we decide to invade you will be released from your service.”
I sighed, “Fine I’ll go but first we have to figure out my route into mirugan.”
“Yes, you will be contacted by a man named Vhûn he will provide you with a boat to rull city.” He said smirking “He is a young man but has many ties high up so please don’t insult him.”
“Ok, then I’ll be off whenever this storm ends.”
And there they were almost a 15 years since the time he had last seen him and since then Vhûn-ka Ghyr had changed quite a bit. But his eyes were the same cold and mirthless; but they looked at him as though he had never seen me before.
“Done, look boy?” he spat through a thick accent
I rose slowly and said in his own tongue “Don’t you recognize me Vhûn” I said “I believe we met about 14 years ago on the harbour of Kvar-y-Tresh”
His face stayed the same but his eyes widened slightly
“Ah yes” he said much more relaxed in his own language “one of the scouts we sent to find out the situation in rull. I also believe you went dark about 4 years ago”
“I was in danger of being found out my lord” I said, playing it safe “I did however still collect information just not report it.”
“Fine then, be off.” He said disgruntled “go into the hold and ask for a bed you will be coming with us.”
And with that I was off, into the ships hold with nothing other than the clothes on my back.
