I joined the server as a veteran SMP player - having played on another RP server for several years and minecraft since the first few infdev versions. While I got the greeting and some generic answers to questions, I was still overwhelmed by the following things:
1) Heroes - there was no documentation anywhere for the plugin except for a convoluted command tree and a 30+ page forum thread.
2) Rules - my old server was fascist about RP (which is why I left) but I wasn't sure what this server considered to be meta-gaming and if that was ban-able or just discouraged.
3) Bio - this was my 4th RP bio I've done for minecraft servers so I wasn't unsure of what a bio should have, however I knew nothing of the lore of the server and the RP section of the forum was hard to read and use making it difficult for me to keep my bio logically consistent with the overall story.
Those are the main issues I had when I joined a while back.

When I joined, I didn't really get any help, I however am equiped with something a lot of the newer generation are lacking: common sense.

I completely forget. I'm pretty sure I got some help. I died of hunger before I got the chance to leave Gaia, with a bit of fall damage to complete the kill. After that, I got some help with stuff. Then I got an RP bio, then stuff went "downhill" from there. I'm guessing some people remember what I mean...

I joined the server, i didn't get any welcome or help. You were most likely the second person to ever join the server xD So unless ig welcomed you onto the server, than there was no one to welcome you. |

I some-what got help. If I needed directions or clarity, they would answer. But like randy said, I came on with common sense.

When I joined, man it was crazy! Anyway I joined because chaza asked me to. So I guess I went on with skype and he helped me get a house and stuff. Thats the best way to start with a friend

When I joined I was welcomed but quickly left as I was scouting through a list of servers and when I rejoined no one noticed however latter on I received help from a lot of people when I needed it. So basically the server was good to me but I messed it up. Actually one of the reasons I came back to this one was because I got greeted nicely.

You joined Solumdes_Shrine, broke open chests on behalf of deltajesus, got hunted down by both parties. Anyways, I logged on about 1-2 hours before the Rull Invasion, kept getting hunted down, which really annoyed me for the first few months. Didn't get any help, only thing most people seem to need help with is the heroes plugin, and I had experience with it from different servers. |

Oh Frak, of course YOU would remember. You just don't know why happened after that. I just outside of the protected Cliffside (outside the boundries set by plugins, which end WAY outside the place)up until July.

Eh, when I joined the server, I think only 1 person said hi to me xD That would be I_Hate_Magnets... Maybe people started noticing me when I joined TrueBloods and destroyed firehawks?  |

Joined 'round the middle of october (last year) and received a warm welcome from Syrren, with an invite to the Fringe Division to boot. Then life got in the way and I was inactive for a while. Came back 'round the beginning of the end (December), along with the fall of THC (also known as Rome near its death). Made friends with mattjackson(insert numbers here) and quickly got a spot as an assistant to the town. Then people (who will go unnamed) *cough cough* Bacon and Bob *cough cough* started attacking anything that moved, and that's why Vellton is a no pvp zone now. And then Zigggy started leading daily raids on the town... ect, ect. All and all, I had a lot of fun now that I look back on it, but it was hell then. Moral of the story: Zigggy is not to be messed with. (Meaning don't piss her off.) Huge block of text. U mad bros?
